UPVC Replacement Door Handles

Over time the handles on your doors will wear down and will require replacement. It is crucial to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever handle or lever is a modern-day door handle designed to work with new or replacement doors. This kind of handle is available in many designs and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The uPVC/Composite handles are made of tough materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a robust design. The handles are inline and use the same spindle and screws to secure them. They are easily fitted on new or existing uPVC/Composite patio door handle replacement.

The sprung lever design allows the handle to be placed and angled for comfortable operation and is suitable for all users. The handle has been tested to 200,000 cycles, which will ensure the quality of the finish and performance of the handle over time. The lever that springs is adjustable to fit a broad range of locks. This is particularly useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is further back in the aluminium door handle. A shorter lever is an ideal choice for doors that have latches that can be opened by a thumb turn inside.

Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc functions differently than lever handles on doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from each side using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are typically employed on UPVC double glazed doors and come in a variety of styles and finishes.

The window handles replacement have been tested to a minimum of 200k cycles and are available in a variety of finishes, including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, which gives the handle a high degree of durability and performance for the intended use.

It is important to match up the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when selecting the replacement UPVC spindle and handle. You will also find that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are swivel which allows you to place them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are usually used on uPVC doors, but can also be used on other types of door. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder that will reveal pins that can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allowing them to turn a revolving cam, thus opening the door. Euro cylinders are available with up to six pins. Internal and external doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is crucial. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For instance, exterior doors must be secured with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders have extra features that can improve security further, such as anti-drill or anti-bump features.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn if there is one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however if this is not possible, you may remove it to take measurements. A cylinder that extends beyond the handle and escutcheon may be vulnerable to attacks such as snapping locks, so it is crucial that it's not too long.

The design of most newer cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can to deflect an attack and ensure your door is secure.

Certain cylinders are constructed to withstand snapping. This is a more frequent kind of attack on cylinders where the break line inside the lock is targeted by a tool that is specially designed to break off the front of the cylinder to allow the door to open. This is a quicker and more convenient method of gaining access than through a multipoint locking system. It also leaves no evidence of the break-in which can delay insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is positioned in the base of your door handle's backplate, supplying a spring-loaded solution that returns the multipoint lock handles back to their original position after use. In the past, a lot of handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them and without this they are more likely to slide or drop once the locking mechanism is removed. The addition of this simple element is one of the best methods to correct this issue and is a great way to prevent your doors made of upvc from getting stuck in an open or closed position, as these aren't always easy to close manually.
