The iRobot App lets you control the Roomba remotely to schedule cleaning times, and build virtual barriers to stop it from entering areas you don't wish it to. It is able to identify and navigate stairs, and can return to the docking station to recharge itself if it is unable to recharge. Contrary to previous Roomba models, this model can keep track of where it left off and restart an earlier clean. It can also run straight lines to boost its efficiency.

Roomba 960S from IRobot

It also comes with a powerful cleaning system that has 10 times the power-lifting suction capacity of older Roombas and has a dual-swivelling brush that can reach corners and under furniture. It can mop your floor immediately after vacuuming.

The carpet boost can be a bit loud. We measured it at 80 dB, which is about the same as prop planes flying overhead. You can build an electronic fence to keep it out of sensitive areas, such as the dog's food bowl and water bowls.
