The Best Robot Vacuum For Pet Hair on Hardwood Floors

A quality robot vacuum cleaner can make a huge difference in reducing allergens like pet hair and dust. Not all models are the same.

There are many options available for you to choose from, whether you need a pet-friendly vacuum or a robot that can complement your other best vacuum mop combo for pet hair.

1. Eufy RoboVac Edge G30

The G30 Edge is the newest model in Eufy's budget line robot vacuum and mop pet hair vacuum cleaners. It's a sleek black design with rose-gold and blue accents that resemble an iPhone. It's easier to use than the previous models and comes with features like BoostIQ that automatically increases suction power for better cleaning of all surfaces. Smart navigation is used to avoid the repetition of the same areas that are an issue that is common with bounce-navigation.

It does a good job cleaning pet hair, crumbs, and dust on hard floors but it is not as efficient as the top models when it comes to removing flour from carpet. In our tests, it missed 74% of the dust on hard floors and 26% of the powder on carpet.

A feature that makes the G30 Edge stand out is its ability to map your home using a digital map in the app. This allows it to remember which spaces it has already cleaned and prevents it from returning to those rooms which is a major problem with simpler robots that require the use of traditional magnetic tape to define no-go zones.

The G30 Edge also has other advantages. It has a "Find My Robot" mode that emits loud music until it is found, and a directional keypad that allows you manually move the robot. It also has a built-in auto return function that will send it back to its charging base when the battery is depleted, an important safety feature.

2. Neato Botvac D-Shape

The Neato Botvac D-Shape robotic is a robust machine that comes with a long list of intelligent features. It can clean floors well and climb up high-pile carpets effortlessly. The app comes with advanced features such as boundary lines and remote access to the robot while it is in operation and a variety of other options.

This model is the latest in a long-running line of robots by Neato. It is unique because it has a "D shape when viewed above. The design offers a number of advantages, including better corner cleaning and a bigger bin of dust than most other models. The D-shape design allows the robot to get under furniture better than those with a circular design.

The D-Shape will briefly pause before beginning a cleaning process using a spinning infrared camera to assess and scan the area. The Roomba EVO i3+ is a great option for pet owners. It is a great choice for hard floors and does a great job of removing particles like cereal, rice, and hair of pets. It isn't as good on carpets however, it is still superior than other robots in this price range. The Roomba EVO is also adept at navigating between various flooring types. It doesn't stall on transitions as older models. The dual multi-surface rubber brushes flex to adapt to different flooring types and prevent getting caught in pet hair.

The i3+ EVO has a weaker obstacle avoidance capability than the other robots we test. It frequently hit objects such as handbags, pet toys, and shoes before retracing its route. It also had issues dealing with salt that was coarse that it blew over and around rather than picking up.

The i3+ EVO is packed with features that make it well worth the price over other Roomba models. These include an automatic emptying bin as well as advanced control with an app. You can plan cleaning times, set custom routines, and create zones that do not want the robot to be allowed to enter. Its intelligent scheduling can even suggest extra cleaning during allergy season and according to the routine you follow. Shark is still a great option if you're looking for something less expensive or prefer to control and monitor your system via your smartphone instead of the remote.

5. Bissell SpinWave Dry and Wet

This robot is capable of mopping and vacuuming. The two-tank system of this robot lets it mop or vacuum with the push of a button. In our tests it was able easily switch between different surfaces and was great at cleaning pet fur from carpets and hardwood floors. It also has an edge-sweeping brush to remove cat hair from baseboards and walls, and scheduling capabilities to fit your schedule.

This robot is a great option if you're seeking a model that is affordable and has some extra features. It was able to negotiate obstacles with ease during our tests and is controlled via an app or voice. It even has scheduled cleaning and has a large dustbin to capture mess before they get full. It can take up to 166 minutes to complete its work however, it is quicker than other robots we have evaluated.

The main feature of this robot is its front-facing camera, which lets you monitor your home's cleanliness using a live map in the app. It's especially helpful when you're trying to locate a specific item or if the kids spill glitter from your decorations on your flooring. It can save you a lot frustration by finding that lost item right away. The lithium batteries that are fade-free can last for as long as 130 minutes on a single charge.

It's less effective on hardwood floors, though. Its side brush scatters huge cereal pieces that stick to the floor instead of being vacuumed. It also had difficulty collecting table salt on floor that was not paved, as a lot of grains were slid across the floor.

It supports voice control via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant via an external device (sold separately). It learns your habits of cleaning and gives you a customized schedule. Cliff Detect and a edge-sweeping tool ensure that it is able to get into hard-to-reach places, while Dirt Detect sensors alert the robot to spots that are heavily soiled. It has a dustbin that automatically emptys and it has a battery life of around 60 minutes. The more expensive iRobot j7 is more advanced and performs better on all surfaces. It is also more robust, has a larger dustbin, is faster to charge, and can navigate obstacles like electrical cords more efficiently.
